An Agricultural extension service worker followed up with Isa for evaluation and final screening and upon meeting all the requirements he was invited to participate in training with other Village Promoters in Yola Adamawa State on the 1 kg On Track project which included both classroom and field practical orientation training. Soon after, Isa’s hard work as a Notore Village Promoter began to payoff. Within his first year, he was presented with a Notore special Nokia phone when he reached his first target to aid in communication. Upon hitting the second target he was given access to a Notore motor bike to help in his sales travels and teaching engagements. He earned a cash profit of N157,080 which reduced the burden of other expenses. With the extra cash, Isa cultivated additional 2ha of land against 1ha of the previous year.
As a result of getting involved in the Notore Village Promoter Program Isa has become the rallying point for the youths in his community and continues to provide advice to farmers on agricultural best practices (a social status position). He is driven by a desire to contribute to his community and as a result of this drive he has began developing plans to set up more demonstration farms to cover more villages. Last year his farm was 3ha, this year he intends to increase it to 9ha (the land has already been acquired)
As far as sales of the 1 kg Notore fertiliser bags that contributed to the positive change in his life go, Isa plans to double his sales from 7,854 kg to 15,000 kg by this season which will earn him the highest reward for reaching the set target; his own motor bike. Isa is not only grateful for the opportunity he got from Notore to earn an extra income. He is even more grateful to be able to help the farmers grow financially within his community.
