Notore Power and Infrastructure Limited (NPI), a wholly owned subsidiary of Notore Chemical Industries Plc, is an indigenous Independent Power Producer (IPP). Incorporated in August 2017, NPI was initially established to optimally manage power resources for its parent company and maximize the full earning potential of the Notore Group.
NPI now has the mandate to benefit from the recent power sector reforms in Nigeria. The reforms have given privately owned power generating companies the license to generate, distribute or supply power, an opportunity that hitherto belonged to the state-owned Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN). Having successfully obtained a generation license for its operations, plans are currently in place to generate an additional 500MW of power and to extend power supply to other locations outside the region.
Notore Industrial City (NIC) is a $5 billion project which involves the design, development, construction, financing, and operation of a world-class industrial city in Onne, Rivers State by Notore and its partners. The project’s strategic location in the Onne Oil and Gas Free Zone – which plays host to over 30 international companies, including installation belonging to major international oil and gas companies – places NIC in a prime position to achieve its aim to create an enabling environment with state-of-the-art facilities for high-valued gas users. After receiving Oil and Gas Free Zone Developer status from Nigeria’s Oil and Gas Free Zones Authority (OGFZA), NIC is expected to become one of Africa’s largest petrochemical processing hubs — paving the way for renewed foreign investment in the region, diversification of Nigeria’s economy, and boosting the country’s status as a global player in the market.
